Car Scent Christmas Tree Funny Nailed It
Charlie Brown Christmas
Once your tree goes up, it's officially Christmastime. The trip to the tree farm, the night spent decorating it, the hours admiring it — magical! But like in-laws and re-gifts, we just don't talk about how annoying they are. Here are some of the little pet peeves and funny fails that we all deal with just to have that sweetly scented fir each year.

Kitty went nuts on all the ornaments ...
Reddit user dublzz says they had their tree up for "about three minutes" before this cute kitty climbed to the top. Your Christmas tree is a party on a stick for kitty, so remember: fancy ornaments go on the top, cheap ornaments go on the bottom. These DIY felt ornaments are pretty easy to make and will survive kitty's swatting.

... and so did the dog.
Oh boy, we can just see the dog shaming photos that came after Reddit user dream_big8's dog jumped on the Christmas tree after the cat. Is it a Dogwood tree, by any chance?

You put it up crooked.
One family realized they had cut the tree crooked when they got home, and heard the tree fall ... twice. They were determined to get it to stay, so they tied a piece of dental floss around the trunk and lassoed the tree to keep it up. It was "virtually invisible" and lasted the whole holiday season.

The tree scared you.
Reddit user The-Lying-Tree said one year they decided to put their tree in a different room than usual. In the middle of the night, they went to get a glass of water when they "saw a huge shadow looming over me." Without thinking, they punched the tree and knocked a few ornaments off, which woke up the whole family.

And it freaked out the kids, too.
The whole point of having a tree is to make it fun for the kids, but Reddit user Christmas-Bu realized their daughter was "deathly afraid" of the tree because she would start screaming at the sight of it. Even when there were presents under the tree, she refused to be in the same room.

You caught more than Santa.
There's something a little creepy about Santa Claus when you think about it. Reddit user manen_lyset got an ornament with a built-in camera so he could make a video pretending to be Santa and show his kids. When they played back the footage, the kids noticed a stranger standing in the corner of their living room just watching. Horrible!

... or squirrels.
No, this is not an Alvin and the Chipmunks reboot, it's a squirrel in a Christmas tree. Reddit user carefree_dude says they found a squirrel on the side of the road and worked with a wildlife rehab specialist who helped them bring the squirrel back to its normal functioning. And turns out, the squirrel loves Christmas trees.

The mystery tree farm worker.
Reddit user Mysticpoisen says one year they were at a tree nursery where you cut your own tree, and they were having trouble cutting the tree. A man riding around on a tractor got off and helped her cut it down. After he was finished, they asked, "How do we check out?" The guy said, "No clue, Merry Christmas" and drove away. Turns out he didn't work for the tree farm, just saw her and thought he'd help!

The ornament that looked a little off.
Toe Holy Night, the stars are brightly shining! Reddit user JoshuaHubert was really confused why his "religious Mother-in-Law had a severed toe Christmas tree ornament." He took a closer look and realized it was actually baby Jesus.

The tree that just didn't smell fresh.
Ahhh, there's nothing quite like the sweet scent of a real Christmas tree. One woman brought home the "perfect tree" from a farm and once they got it up, realized it didn't quite smell right. The tree had been skunked, and they didn't have time to try one of these ways to make your house smell like Christmas.

The tree went up in flames.
This isn't exactly the burning bush we had in mind. Reddit user itsmesofia says they put their Christmas tree outside on the curb and when they came back someone had lit it on fire. Apparently this is a really common incident! Try one of these ways to reuse your Christmas tree instead.

... or way too tall.
Measure your ceiling twice, cut your tree once! Reddit user chrisefaw should've thought of that first, so they can get their tree topper up and shining.
